Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Prade today refused to confirm the Viola wanted to resign Borja Valero from Inter.
Valero moved in the opposite direction in 2017 for a total fee of €6.5 million, but he is now surplus to requirements in Milan following Antonio Conte’s arrival.
Prade met Piero Ausilio to discuss the midfielder last week but he kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed on Valero.
“Borja could be an ideal player for us, but that doesn’t mean we’re following him,” Prade told FirenzeViola.it.
“We’re looking for certain characteristics in our summer signings.”
Valero remains a cult hero in Florence and earned the nickname ‘sindaco’ (mayor) during his five seasons there.
Prade also provided a clearer denial when asked if the Viola were considering a move for Inter’s former midfielder Rafinha, who is now back at Barcelona.
“He’s a good player, but both myself and the coach have other ideas in our head,” he added.
