Inter were again linked today with moves for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal.

The Nerazzurri are thought to want another high-profile midfielder as Antonio Conte plots a title challenge this season.

Sport this morning reported Barca have put Rakitic on the transfer market, after the Croatian lost the backing of head coach Ernesto Valverde.

Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, suggested Inter are still monitoring the situation regarding Vidal, who would cost €30 million.

Rakitic scored five goals and created 10 assists for Barca last season as they won another La Liga title and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

The midfielder would prefer to stay in Catalonia but has not ruled out the possibility he could leave this summer.

Rakitic’s agent Arturo Canales is exploring what options his client would have and has received interest from Serie A.

It is no secret Conte would like to sign last summer’s World Cup runner-up, although Inter were linked with Rakitic even before his arrival as head coach.

Inter have not made an official offer for Vidal yet, who is expected to be sold due to the ‘overbooking’ in Barca’s midfield.

Beppe Marotta’s reaction to being told the Chilean is valued at €30 million will provide a much clearer indication of how realistic a deal is.
