Beppe Marotta last night assured Inter supporters that Antonio Conte was feeling less anxious after Monday’s transfer summit in China.

Conte, Marotta, Piero Ausilio, Steven Zhang and Zhang Jindong met in Nanjing to discuss the Nerazzurri’s recruitment plans, which have faltered in recent weeks.

Marotta and Ausilio flew back to Italy on Thursday evening and will now resume the hunt for a centre-forward.

“Everything was very positive,” Marotta told Sport Mediaset at Linate Airport.

“There’s still work to do but we’re feeling optimistic. It’s good for us to all be under pressure, but Conte is more calm after the meeting.”

Inter lost the first match on their preseason tour of Asia when they went down to Manchester United, before drawing to Juventus on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri’s final fixture before returning to Europe will be against Paris Saint-Germain in Macao tomorrow, with Tottenham and Valencia awaiting at the start of August.
