Jeison Murillo today admitted he still didn’t know what happened to Inter midway through his first season at the club.

Roberto Mancini’s side were top of the Serie A table in December during the 2015-16 season, before a spring capitulation left them fourth in the final standings.

Murillo’s second season in Milan was even less successful, as Inter failed to qualify for Europe while sacking two managers.

“I don’t think anyone could know what happened in my first year at Inter,” the centre-back told reporters today as he was presented by his new club Sampdoria.

“We probably lost our confidence as the first negative results started arriving. The second year, on the other hand, was all wrong from the beginning.

“You read Inter’s starting XI and you thought ‘this is a good team’, but then on the pitch nothing worked.”

Murillo made 69 appearances during his two years with Inter, before moving to Valencia in the summer of 2017.

The 27-year-old has now returned to Italy after signing a four-year deal with Samp, who will be coached by Eusebio Di Francesco this season.
