Youri Djorkaeff today recalled the ‘dream’ he fulfilled with Inter by winning the 1998 UEFA Cup in his native France.

The former forward spoke to Paris Saint-Germain’s club website before the International Super Cup clash with the Nerazzurri, which Inter won 6-5 on penalties.

Djorkaeff played for both sides during the 1990s and had plenty of happy memories to look back on.

“It’s certainly a special match for me because I had a great season with PSG before Inter signed me,” he said.

“They’re my two favourite teams because I had great success and won trophies with both. It was nice to make history with both.”

Djorkaeff won the Trophee des Champions and Cup Winners Cup in Paris, before returning to the Parc des Princes for Inter’s famous final against Lazio.

Ivan Zamorano opened the scoring for Gigi Simoni’s side before Javier Zanetti and Ronaldo secured a comfortable 3-0 win.

“It was incredible because I’d only left PSG two years ago, it was nice to go back and win another trophy,” he added.

“I then won the World Cup with France a few kilometres away in the Stade de France, only a few months later. That was a good summer back in 1998…”
