Gareth Bale will not join Inter’s sister club Jiangsu Suning because Real Madrid have called the deal off, according to the BBC.

Everything seemed ready for the Welsh international to move to the Chinese Super League, where he was due to earn €22 million per season for three years.

It now appears he could stay in Madrid, though, despite having fallen out with manager Zinedine Zidane.

Marca gave a slightly different version of events to the BBC, reporting it was Bale’s family who had advised him to rethink his future.

The forward’s relatives were not keen to move to China and are urging him to look for alternative destinations in Europe.

Bale made a cameo appearance during Madrid’s humiliating 7-3 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Friday, with cameras appearing to catch him laughing at Zidane at one point.

Inter’s owners Suning had hoped to secure a high-profile signing that would help them expand their brand globally, but they are set to be disappointed.
