Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed that the Nerazzurri have made an offer for Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku but that no agreement has been found as talks are ongoing, when speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

“Today it is clear that the price tag of players are elevated in certain instances, as in the case with Lukaku. We have made a fair offer for a club like ours, respecting the value of the player.”

“We did not find an agreement, we are looking to monitor the situation and we will see what will happen.  I do not want to say too much because in football everything is unpredictable.”

Marotta then underlined that the upcoming season in the Serie A will be much tighter given the many new players and coaches and believed Inter are confident going into the season.

“It will be a very new Serie A, given that there are maybe 8-9 new coaches. The teams are very new. We have very strong owners, but it is only right that we have to respect the financial parameters. Then we will have to capitalize on our chances.”

“We are very confident, the club has made excellent investments and as a consequence I think we are already far ahead in our work.”
