Inter’s bid to sign Romelu Lukaku has received an unlikely boost from Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, as Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning.

The Bianconeri have overtaken their bitter rivals in the chase for the Belgian striker, reaching a verbal agreement on personal terms and starting talks with Manchester United over a swap deal.

Dybala and Lukaku are valued at similar figures, approximately €83.5 million, meaning an agreement could very easily be reached.

However, Dybala has not been contacted by United yet and is not contemplating the idea of leaving Juventus this summer.

Lukaku has become one of Juve’s two targets up front to reinforce Maurizio Sarri’s attacking options, with Mauro Icardi being the other.

The 26-year-old can only move to Turin if Dybala moves in the other direction, and this at the moment remains unlikely.

Dybala will cut his summer holidays short to start training with Sarri on Friday, with whom he hopes to play as a false nine this season.

He also wants to meet Juve’s management and reiterate his desire to stay long-term, having already spoken to Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici before the Copa America.

Gazzetta said: “If the club tell Dybala they have other ideas in mind then he will resign himself and begin considering the idea of leaving

“He doesn’t want to stay as an unhappy player, but it will never be him who asks to be sold.”

United would have to make Dybala a very convincing offer to entice him to Manchester, both in terms of their sporting project and wages.

Dybala earns €7 million annually in Turin and would want that to increase to around €9-10 million in the Premier League.
