Inter offered Roma €15 million for Edin Dzeko tonight but the clubs remain a long way from an agreement, according to Sky Sport.

The Nerazzurri submitted a bid which moved them closer to Roma’s €20 million asking price, in the hope it would convince the Giallorossi to concede some ground.

Roma again reiterated they will not budge on their demands, though, making it unlikely Dzeko will join Inter anytime soon.

The Giallorossi do not have any replacement lined up, be it Mauro Icardi or Gonzalo Higuain, which is thought to be contributing to their hard-line stance.

Paulo Fonseca is very satisfied with how Dzeko has trained so far in preseason, to the point he is considering making him his starting centre-forward this year.

The new head coach has even encouraged Roma to offer the Bosnian a fresh contract, although it is unlikely Dzeko will accept.

Dzeko has entered the final year of his deal in the capital but sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is not prepared to make Inter’s life any easier as a result.

Antonio Conte is anxiously waiting news at Appiano Gentile as Inter seek the centre-forwards he so badly needs.
