Milan Skriniar is convinced Inter are destined for great success under their new boss Antonio Conte.

The Nerazzurri impressed onlookers with their preseason performances against Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain last week, defeating the French champions on penalties after a draw.

Conte has brought high expectations with him to Milan, but the centre-back seems to think the hype is justified.

“You can already see the new Inter emerging,” Skriniar told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We showed what we’re capable of very clearly against PSG. We wouldn’t have deserved to lose and we played great football in the first half, which is positive.

“The fact we did well against two sides like Juventus and PSG fills us with confidence. It shows we can take on any side in the Champions League this season, I have no doubts about that.”

Skriniar admitted Inter still had work to do as they learned to play with a three-man defence, but praised the clarity of Conte’s instructions.

“Conte is explaining everything to us with his backroom staff and this is really important,” Skriniar continued.

“We’re working hard and Inter are improving. We have to keep following the coach’s instructions.

“I prefer playing friendlies like these against tough opponents because you can see what improvements you’re making. These are crucial matches for us.

“We’re working on something different compared to the past and that’s not just in terms of the new system. Everyone has understood that and we’ve made great progress since the start of preseason.”

Skriniar also responded to praise from his new teammate Diego Godin, who described him as ‘spectacular’ last week.

The Slovak added: “Diego is a champion and I get on well with him. I think it would be impossible to think differently.

“He’s a great lad and a great player. He’ll give all of Inter a great hand, I’m certain of it.”
