Edin Dzeko would be furious with Roma if the Giallorossi rejected Inter’s new €15 million offer for the Bosnian, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri submitted their improved bid after Serie A’s fixture ceremony in Milan yesterday, edging themselves closer to Roma’s €20 million asking price.

Inter could abandon talks altogether if Roma continue to hold out for that figure, but at that point Dzeko himself may decide to put his foot down.

The paper reported this morning: “Dzeko has conducted himself like a true professional so far. No arguments, intense training sessions and commitment whenever he’s been called upon in preseason friendlies.

“He hasn’t got involved in talks between the clubs and he hasn’t said anything in public to force Roma’s hand.

“Now that Inter have made another step towards him by upping their offer, he expects Roma to grant his wish of moving to another club.”

Dzeko believes he has earned the right to be treated with respect by Roma, given everything he has done for the club since joining in 2015.

He is also well aware of the fact Stephan El Shaarawy was allowed to leave when he made a similar request last month, as Roma sold him to Shanghai Shenhua for €16 million plus bonuses.

Roma signed Dzeko from Manchester City for €15 million and they would be recouping that fee entirely with Inter’s fresh offer.

They have not lost hope of keeping the 33-year-old yet, though, and are planning to offer him a new deal in the capital.

“Dzeko doesn’t want to hear anything about a contract extension,” Corriere concluded.

“If he had to he would stay until his deal expired in June, but he’s convinced that won’t happen. Not least because Inter sent what he believes was an important message last night.”
