Roma are determined to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of Inter striker Mauro Icardi, according to Il Tempo.

An agent close to Maurito described the deal as ‘mission impossible’, with reports elsewhere claiming he would only countenance a departure for Juventus.

However, the Giallorossi are convinced they can take advantage of the domino effect which will soon take off on the market, with numerous forwards poised to switch clubs.

Roma have got back in touch with Icardi’s entourage after deciding he was a more suitable investment than Gonzalo Higuain, whom Gianluca Petrachi has courted heavily in recent weeks.

Icardi could join Roma in a sensational swap deal with Edin Dzeko, should Inter’s former captain reconsider the idea of moving to the capital.

Roma are adamant they want €20 million for Dzeko, rejecting an improved bid from the Nerazzurri earlier this week, while Icardi is valued at €70-80 million.

Higuain was thought to be an ideal signing for Roma as he would revive enthusiasm among supporters, following the departures of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi.

However, Pipita appears to have been displaced by Icardi now on Petrachi’s transfer wish list.
