Inter are closing in on a deal to send their academy forward Facundo Colidio to Newcastle, according to gianlucadimarzio.com.

The Nerazzurri are waiting on a response from the Magpies after offering the Argentine on loan with an option to buy.

Colidio could return to Italy at a future date even if Newcastle signed him permanently, as the clubs’ agreement would also include a ‘counter-option’ for Inter to resign the 19-year-old.

Championship side Leeds, who are coached by Colidio’s compatriot Marcelo Bielsa, are ready to hijack the move if any problems arise.

Colidio racked up 31 appearances in all competitions for Inter’s Primavera last year, scoring 12 goals and creating six assists.

He made the move to Serie A two summers ago, when the Nerazzurri signed him from Boca Juniors for €7 million.

Colidio suffered a personal disappointment earlier this year when he was left out of Fernando Batista’s 21-man squad for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Poland.

He has never made his debut for Inter’s first team but frequently trained with the squad under Luciano Spalletti.
