Radja Nainggolan could undergo a medical with Cagliari tomorrow ahead of a season-long loan, according to FcInterNews.it.

Inter have almost agreed a deal with Tommaso Giulini which would see the Rossoblu pay €3.5 million of his annual €4.5 million net salary.

The Nerazzurri would cover €750,000, the money due to the midfielder in July and August, while Nainggolan will give up the remaining €250,000.

Suning will save €7 million before tax on the Ninja’s wages in total this season, but there are still details to be sorted.

Nainggolan may only earn €4.5 million as a base figure but his contract with Inter includes a series of easily triggered bonuses, allowing the figure to rise to €6 million.

The 31-year-old should receive €200,000 from Inter when he makes his 20th appearance of the season, along with an additional €300,000 after reaching 30 appearances.

His fifth goal of any given campaign is worth €200,000 while the tenth gives him €300,000, and an additional €500,000 is activated if Inter qualify for the Champions League.

Cagliari cannot afford to cover all of these add-ons and this means the deal is not done yet, but it seems almost certain now the clubs will find an agreement.

Nainggolan will nevertheless become the club’s highest-paid player by some considerable distance, given it is currently Leonardo Pavoletti on €1.8 million annually.

Fiorentina were heavily linked with a move for the midfielder this week, but Radja has always had Cagliari on top of his wish list.

The Rossoblu celebrate their centenary this season and they are close to securing a very high-profile signing for the occasion.
