Gabriel Barbosa last night told Flamengo’s supporters he wants to win trophies in Brazil before returning to Inter.
The striker’s loan deal expires on 31 December but Piero Ausilio seems keen on selling him to a club in Europe this summer.
Antonio Conte is in desperate need of a centre-forward before the new season begins but there is no chance Gabigol will fill the void.
Barbosa told calciomercato.com: “I have a contract with Inter, yes, but for now I’m only focused on Flamengo and I want to win here.”
Gabigol has scored 22 goals in Brazil this year, including eight in seven games since Jorge Jesus became head coach.
“Thanks to God I’m giving the team a hand and everything is going well,” he added.
“I feel like I’m a more ready and mature player tactically now. I know my responsibilities for the team and I work for the collective as opposed to the individual.”
