Inter are expected to save roughly €8 million before tax by sending Radja Nainggolan on loan to Cagliari.

Gazzetta dello Sport reported the midfielder will arrive in Sardinia today to undergo a medical with the Rossoblu.

Inter’s deal for Nainggolan is a season-long free loan with Cagliari paying the player’s €4.5 million net salary, excluding the installments for July and part of August.

A full agreement was reached last night in a meeting between Nainggolan, Inter and Cagliari owner Tommaso Giulini.

Inter dealt with Cagliari last month when signing Nicolo Barella and this made it easier for the clubs to negotiate quickly.

Nainggolan could have gone to Fiorentina after the Viola also agreed a loan deal on Tuesday, but he blocked this move by making it clear his preference was to rejoin Cagliari.

The 31-year-old endured a difficult debut campaign with Inter, scoring seven goals and suffering various injury problems.

Cagliari celebrate their centenary this season and will be able to count upon a stellar midfield line-up, as Nainggolan joins up with former Napoli man Marko Rog and Nahitan Nandez.
