Radja Nainggolan’s loan move to Cagliari has pushed Inter slightly closer to a move for either Arturo Vidal or Ivan Rakitic, according to Tuttosport.

The Ninja’s departure will not earn the Nerazzurri any money in terms of a transfer fee, but it frees up space both in their squad and on their wage bill.

Joao Mario has interest from Brighton and Monaco while Borja Valero is still in talks over a return to Fiorentina.

Selling at least one of those two as well would enable Inter to pursue the Barcelona midfielders with greater insistence.

Nainggolan was not in Antonio Conte’s plans for this season and finally gave up on changing his new boss’s mind last week.

He spent four years with Cagliari between 2010-14, scoring seven goals in 137 appearances in all competitions.

Vidal was reportedly taken off the market by Barcelona this week but Rakitic is thought to be surplus to requirements.

Either player would be a much-needed reinforcement for Conte, who is still waiting on two centre-forwards as well as a midfielder.
