Inter are preparing to make Fiorentina an offer for their former left-back Cristiano Biraghi, according to FcInterNews.it.

The Nerazzurri want to sign the Italy international on a loan deal worth €2-3 million with an option to buy for €12-13 million.

Piero Ausilio contacted Biraghi’s agent Mario Giuffredi 10 days ago and has remained in touch since.

Talks could come alive after 15 August as Inter seek a player who left their academy system in 2014.

Biraghi would be eligible as one of Inter’s homegrown players for their Serie A and Champions League squad lists this season.

This is potentially the key reason for the Nerazzurri’s interest, who first set their eyes on him during their preseason tour in Asia.

Fiorentina are interested in Matteo Politano and Borja Valero, although there was no suggestion a part-exchange deal involving Biraghi could take place.

Biraghi, 26, made 36 league appearances for the Viola last year as Vincenzo Montella’s side escaped relegation on the final day of the season.
