Inter’s young defender Lorenzo Pirola expressed his delight at making his first-team debut against Tottenham tonight.

The centre-back came on towards the end of the second half as Antonio Conte’s side played out a 1-1 draw in London.

Joao Mario’s penalty secured a 4-3 shoot-out victory after normal time and ensured Inter’s International Champions Cup campaign ended on a high.

Pirola told Inter TV: “I’m so happy about making my debut today. It’s an unbelievable feeling to play on a stage as great as this, in a beautiful stadium against a big team like Tottenham.

“When I’m here I try to imitate the players who play in my position for the first team and learn from them in every possible situation.

“The team is improving game after game and wants to achieve something significant together.”

Inter’s final preseason friendly will be against Valencia in Spain on Saturday, before the Nerazzurri debut in Serie A against Lecce two weeks later.
