Sebastiano Esposito has given himself a chance of featuring for Inter’s first team this season, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 17-year-old has been one of the revelations of the Nerazzurri’s preseason campaign, providing the assist for Stefano Sensi’s goal against Tottenham yesterday.

Antonio Conte’s striker shortage up front has allowed Esposito to start all five friendlies, and he has grabbed the opportunity to impress with both hands.

Gazzetta reported this morning: “Esposito will inevitably have less room in the first-team squad once the transfer window shuts and Inter have signed two more forwards.

“As well as the new arrivals, he will also have Lautaro Martinez, Matteo Politano and Ivan Perisic in front of him, meaning he would be the sixth available attacker.

“He’ll play again for Inter’s Primavera side, where he will still be one of their youngest players, but in a long season which will be full of matches it’s not impossible we see him again with the first team.”

Esposito’s classy pass for Sensi on Sunday made him the youngest player ever to provide an assist in an International Champions Cup fixture.

He was the only man to play the full 90 minutes of Inter’s preseason opener against Lugano and enjoyed ample game-time during the tour of Asia too.

Esposito started the first two games alongside Samuele Longo before partnering Ivan Perisic in the following three.

He has been fully immersed in senior football this summer and it promises to be a formative experience for him whatever he ends up doing this season.
