Lautaro Martinez’s hat-trick was not the only positive news for Antonio Conte yesterday as the Nerazzurri beat Pro Sesto 5-1 in a friendly.
The match was organised at Appiano Gentile to help those who were injured recover fitness, as well as to accelerate the preparation of those who had arrived late for preseason.
Tuttosport identified Kwadwo Asamoah, Alessandro Bastoni and Matias Vecino as the other main beneficiaries of the game, although Matteo Politano also impressed after playing 45 minutes against Tottenham.
Diego Godin and Valentino Lazaro did not take part in the match and are continuing with individual work, making it unlikely they will feature against Valencia on Saturday.
Bastoni missed last weekend’s International Champions Cup clash with Spurs after spraining his knee in training, but it seems the centre-back has already recovered fully.
Vecino was also left out of the trip to London after picking up a thigh strain during Uruguay’s Copa America opener in June, but he too looked in good shape.
