Flamengo’s owner today admitted he might not be able to sign Gabriel Barbosa permanently from Inter even if he wanted to.

Numerous clubs in Europe are thought to be after the 22-year-old, who has scored nine goals in ten league games so far in 2019.

Spanish outfit Real Valladolid, where Inter’s former striker Ronaldo is a majority shareholder, were the latest to be linked by FcInterNews.it on Tuesday.

“It’s nearly time to start negotiating with Inter,” Rodolfo Landim told Fox Sports.

“We’re pleased Gabigol is happy at Flamengo and we’re satisfied with him, but we need to speak with Inter to see what alternatives they have and what offers arrive. We’re waiting for the right moment.

“Gabigol’s desire to join us here was so strong it helped us convince Inter to send him out on loan for another year, provided we paid all of his wages.”

The forward is due to remain on loan with Flamengo until 31 December, but Inter appear to be keen on cutting that deal short and selling him elsewhere this month.

Gabigol is under contract with Inter until 2022 and would need to be sold for around €15 million to avoid a net loss.

Along with Flamengo and Valladolid, Palmeiras and Dynamo Moscow have also been linked.
