Cristiano Ronaldo wants Juventus to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is looking for a new partner up front and believes Maurito is more suited to his style of play than Romelu Lukaku.
Juventus have revived their interest for the Nerazzurri’s former captain after their bid to swap Lukaku for Paulo Dybala fell through.
Gazzetta reported this morning: “Those who frequent the Continassa insist that in recent weeks Ronaldo has expressed his appreciation for Icardi to Juve’s management.
“He wants a snake-like forward who creates space for him in the box and he thinks Maurito has all the requirements to do this for him.”
Fabio Paratici travelled to London yesterday for more transfer talks but this was not an attempt to revive the Lukaku-Dybala swap.
Juve’s sporting director was on hand to finish another swap deal with Manchester City, involving Danilo and Joao Cancelo, as well as to find a buyer for Daniele Rugani.
Icardi has become the Bianconeri’s primary target in attack, although Mario Mandzukic and Gonzalo Higuain remain on their books as well for the moment.
Ronaldo’s sponsorship could prove vital in securing a deal, with important developments expected in the coming days.
