Matteo Politano is expected to remain at Inter this summer due to the club’s lack of options in attack, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former Sassuolo man is not suited to Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system and is being linked with several other clubs in Serie A, despite only joining the Nerazzurri permanently in June.

Inter cannot afford to let Politano leave now, though, because their Serie A debut is only three weeks away and Ivan Perisic will be suspended against Lecce.

The situation could only change at the end of the transfer window, but it will depend a lot on who has arrived up front by then.

Inter would only reconsider their position for Politano if a big-money offer arrived, thereby ruling out the possibility of him leaving on loan.

Politano scored six goals in his debut campaign under Luciano Spalletti and will most likely play as a second striker under Conte, a position he already tried for Sassuolo two seasons ago.
