Antonio Conte has made a great impression on his new Inter players during the first month of preseason, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri’s new boss is working less with the ball than his predecessor Luciano Spalletti, instead prioritising ‘dry’ sessions with more running-based exercises.

However, the tough methods are already producing the desired effect, with positive performances against tough opposition like Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham.

“A few players already knew Conte’s training methods because Ranocchia, Candreva, Asamoah and Padelli had all worked with him either for club or country,” the paper recalled this morning.

“Their teammates informed themselves indirectly and therefore nobody was surprised by the high intensity of his sessions.”

Many members of Inter’s squad began training individually before returning for preseason, ensuring they were in shape before starting work with Conte.

The players’ muscles are under greater stress than they were under Spalletti but it seems everyone is on board with their new coach for now.

Conte has also proved a highly effective motivator during his first few weeks in Milan, ‘recovering’ players who seemed all but certain to depart.

CdS claimed Borja Valero was reluctant to leave because of his persuasive man-management, while Dalbert is enjoying a second wind after disappointing last year.
