Inter agreed a deal last night to extend Danilo D’Ambrosio’s contract for another season, Corriere dello Sport confirmed today.

The defender will now be tied to the Nerazzurri until 2022, with his annual salary increased from €1.8 million to €2.2 million.

D’Ambrosio was linked with a move to Roma earlier this summer and received offers from Sevilla and Everton.

Inter have never countenanced a sale, though, as Antonio Conte prepares to use him as a centre-back in his three-man defence this season.

D’Ambrosio enjoyed one of his best seasons at Inter last year as Luciano Spalletti’s side secured another fourth-place finish in Serie A.

The former Torino man scored twice in 30 league appearances and made two crucial goal-line clearances against Milan and Empoli in the latter stages of the campaign.

D’Ambrosio’s agent Vincenzo Pisacane met Inter at the club’s offices yesterday and thanked the club for renewing their faith in his client.

He has played 177 matches in all competitions since arriving in January 2014.
