Inter’s treble-winning hero Diego Milito does not agree with the way his former club are treating Mauro Icardi this summer.

El Principe shared the Nerazzurri’s dressing room with Icardi during his final year in Milan, before leaving to finish his career back in Argentina.

Milito, who is now sporting director at Racing Club, said he was ‘hurt’ by Icardi’s current predicament, suggesting the striker deserved more respect from his employers.

“I’m very disappointed because I know Mauro personally,” Milito told Fox Sports Sur.

“It pains me to see that a player who’s done so much for the club, having scored this many goals, has to leave in this manner.

“I don’t think this is the way, the manner… they’re not even considering him and they’re trying to sell him. I always say important players need to stay at their clubs.”

Milito was also asked if he could imagine himself returning to Inter in a managerial role one day, but he refused to be drawn on the matter.

He added: “I’m living day by day and I’m not thinking too far ahead. For now there are still a lot of things to do at Racing and I’m happy here.

“When I no longer have the motivation to stay here I’ll look for what excites me the most and decide if I should go abroad or restart somewhere else.”
