Inter have moved closer to securing a deal for Romelu Lukaku this afternoon after making Manchester United a new offer, according to Sky Sport.

The Nerazzurri have bid €70 million plus ‘a lot of bonuses’, which will take them much nearer to United’s €83 million asking price for the striker.

They must now wait for the Premier League giants to provide a response, which is expected to arrive later this evening.

Steven Zhang and the rest of Inter’s hierarchy are confident they can finally get hold of Antonio Conte’s key transfer target, thanks in no small part to the diplomatic work performed by Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello.

Pastorello has spent more than two hours in United’s London offices today as he works to bring the clubs closer together on their valuations.

Lukaku is training with his former club Anderlecht in Belgium, waiting for positive news after refusing to report for training with United on Tuesday.

Juventus are not completely out of the race yet but their failure to offload Paulo Dybala will probably kill off any chance they had of signing Lukaku.

The Bianconeri needed the money from La Joya’s departure to finance a cash offer for United, but Dybala is running out of time to complete a move to Tottenham.
