Inter are working frantically this afternoon to agree a deal with Manchester United for Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky Sport.

The Nerazzurri are back in contact with United and the striker’s agent Federico Pastorello has flown to London, with the aim of finding the right offer to reach an agreement.

Steven Zhang has returned to Italy this week and this is thought to be one of the first immediate consequences of his arrival on the scene.

Juventus remain interested in signing Lukaku but Inter are moving now in a bid to block any future move from the Bianconeri.

Antonio Conte has always insisted Lukaku is his first transfer target but talks with United have proved extremely difficult.

The Red Devils have never shown any sign of lowering their €83 million asking price, which Inter appear unable to meet without significant player sales.

It remains to be seen whether Pastorello can find any offer which brings the parties together, following weeks of unsuccessful negotiations.

Inter are certainly not giving up on Lukaku without a fight, though, and are doing everything within their power to give Conte the forward he wants.
