Mauro Icardi will be left out of Inter’s Champions League squad if he stays with the Nerazzurri this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The striker will be eligible for all Serie A fixtures but it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte would wish to call upon him anyway.
Icardi is no closer to securing a move away from Inter despite being repeatedly told he has no future at the club.
He resumed preseason training under Conte this week, having been excluded from the tour to Asia last month.
Juventus remain the most likely destination for Icardi but the Bianconeri’s frosty relations with Inter could prove a big problem.
Maurito would not say no to Juve and is greatly appreciated by Maurizio Sarri, but his current club do not want to drop their high asking price for their arch rivals.
Napoli are another club frequently linked but Aurelio De Laurentiis seems more focused on a move for PSV Eindhoven forward Hirving Lozano at the moment.
The Partenopei could return to Icardi right at the end of the transfer window, but they will not offer the €75-80 million Inter want now.
Roma are a third option for Icardi, with the Giallorossi reportedly considering a cash-plus-player offer involving Edin Dzeko.
However, the Argentine is not willing to move to the capital because Roma are not playing in the Champions League this year.
