Romelu Lukaku’s relationship with Manchester United broke down today after the striker failed to report for training, according to Sky Sport.
The Belgian international was expected to return on Tuesday after being allowed a day off, but instead he remained with Anderlecht and trained there.
Lukaku wants to leave United and is waiting to join either Inter or Juventus, both of whom have made serious approaches for him.
United want €83 million to sell the striker, having failed to secure Paulo Dybala in a swap deal from the Bianconeri.
Sky’s report was contradicted this afternoon by their colleagues in the UK, who insisted Lukaku’s prolonged stay in Belgium had been agreed beforehand with United.
It remains clear the striker has no intention of staying in the Premier League, though, having spent most of the summer looking forward to signing for Inter.
Antonio Conte made Lukaku his top transfer target this summer but time is running out for the Nerazzurri to secure the 26-year-old’s services.
The Premier League’s transfer window shuts in less than 48 hours and it is unclear whether United would be willing to let him go without signing a replacement.
