Romelu Lukaku To Become An Inter Player After Weeks Of Fraught Negotiations

Romelu Lukaku’s imminent move to Inter comes after several weeks of complicated and frustrating negotiations, as explained by Gazzetta dello Sport this evening.

Inter have had an offer worth €65 million plus €10 million in bonuses accepted by Manchester United, having initially turned down the bid earlier this week.

Lukaku’s arrival in Milan is now only ‘a matter of hours, perhaps days’, but it was by no means easy for the Nerazzurri to make it to this stage.

“These negotiations were characterised by continuous obstacles and delays, as the clubs struggled to reach a formal agreement,” the paper reported.

“But after a serious of frenetic talks between the parties to finalise a deal, the final ‘OK’ has now arrived.

“Inter first expressed an interest for Lukaku months ago and they have never withdrawn it since, but things took a while because their inability to sell Mauro Icardi was keeping talks on standby.

“Ultimately they have got it done though, having decided to ‘sacrifice’ and postpone the Icardi question to bring Lukaku in.”

Lukaku has been training in Belgium with his former club Anderlecht this week, having failed to return to United as expected yesterday.

His agent Federico Pastorello has been working tirelessly in London all day and it appears the Belgian international will finally get his wish of a move to Serie A.
