Antonio Conte and Beppe Marotta’s arrivals at Inter are a sign of how much Suning care about the club, the Nerazzurri’s CEO Alessandro Antonello said today.

The Chinese consortium bought a majority stake in the club three years ago and have since developed Inter both on and off the pitch.

Suning are sometimes criticised by supporters for a perceived lack of commitment to Inter, but Antonello assured this could not be further from the truth.

“They’ve helped the club reach new and stimulating objectives,” Antonello told Chinese agency Xinhua.

“By appointing Marotta and Conte and reinforcing the squad, Suning keep demonstrating how much importance Inter have within their overall strategies.

“From a commercial standpoint, Suning hope the club can reinforce their brand on the international stage and expand its global network of supporters.”

Antonello said Inter’s main aim was to reduce the gap to their competitors in Serie A, as well as going as far as possible in the Champions League every year.

He added: “To achieve that goal the club is making commitments to projects both in the medium and long term, such as moving into new offices, modernising Appiano Gentile and, most of all, investing in a new stadium.

“Suning’s vision and support are a guarantee all our projects will develop as planned. The club is moving with the aim of becoming a big club in Europe again.”

Antonello also thanked Inter’s fans for their warm welcome during last month’s preseason tour in Asia, which further reinforced their commitment to breaking the Chinese market.

“We’re proud to be the Italian club with the most supporters on Chinese social media networks,” he concluded.

“Our goal is to make the Chinese market an instrumental part of Inter’s growth, establishing closer links with young fans and expanding our cooperation with the local community, while also supporting the development of football through the Inter Academy.”
