Inter are preparing an improved €18 million bid for Roma striker Edin Dzeko, according to Sport Mediaset.

The Nerazzurri are due to announce the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United today, but their work on the transfer market is by no means done.

Roma still want €20 million plus bonuses for Dzeko, who has agreed a three-year deal with Inter worth €4.5 million annually.

Antonio Conte wants a highly competitive squad which will enable him to fight with Juventus as early as this season.

Inter have been in talks with Roma over a deal for Dzeko since the beginning of the summer, but they have made little progress with the Giallorossi.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are also pursuing targets in other positions, though, after Conte requested a new wing-back to replace Ivan Perisic.

Dalbert and Kwadwo Asamoah are available on the left-hand side of his 3-5-2 system as things stand, but Perisic’s failure to adapt to that position means another reinforcement may arrive.

Spal’s Mohamed Fares could be another option if Inter wanted to swap him for Federico Dimarco.

Conte also wants another midfielder and Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal appears to remain his first choice.

Inter could make a bid for the Chilean international towards the end of the window, provided Joao Mario and Borja Valero leave first.
