Beppe Marotta has dealt a three-fold blow to his former Juventus colleague Fabio Paratici by bringing Romelu Lukaku to Inter, as explained by Corriere della Sera.

Lukaku underwent a medical with the Nerazzurri this morning and should be unveiled as their fifth summer signing later today.

Marotta’s winning move for Lukaku means he has won the first transfer battle between the pair since he left Juventus last September.

But he has also robbed Paratici of a potential replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, who is surplus to requirements in Turin, while complicating his plans to offload Paulo Dybala.

Dybala has run out of time to complete a move to Tottenham, having already turned down Manchester United, with the Premier League’s transfer window set to shut in two hours.

If the forward were to put his foot down it would bring Inter and Marotta back into play for La Joya, reviving the possibility of a swap deal with Mauro Icardi.

“At the beginning of June, Paratici called Wanda Nara and told her to wait until the end of August, rejecting all other offers for Icardi in the meantime,” CdS reported.

“Dybala’s refusal to join Spurs or United would suggest, although there is no confirmation yet, that Marotta has advised him to adopt exactly the same strategy.”

Inter and Juventus both stand to benefit from an Icardi-Dybala swap, not only technically but also financially as the clubs look to balance their books.

Italy’s transfer window will not close for another month but the first round in this alternative Derby d’Italia has gone to Marotta.
