Manchester United will not miss Inter-bound Romelu Lukaku because he wasn’t suited to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s needs, according to club legend Paul Scholes.

Lukaku officially completed a move to the Nerazzurri today after undergoing a medical this morning, becoming the most expensive signing in Inter’s history.

The striker was criticised by another United hero Gary Neville on Wednesday, who accused him of being ‘overweight’ and ‘unprofessional’.

Scholes told the Press Association: “Solskjaer wants someone with a bit of energy, a bit of speed, someone who is going to work hard but also score goals.”

Lukaku scored 15 goals in all competitions last season as United laboured to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

The 26-year-old netted twice in a famous 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in March, allowing Solskjaer’s side to win a tight last-16 tie on away goals.

Lukaku has signed a five-year deal with Inter and is the club’s fifth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Diego Godin, Stefano Sensi, Valentino Lazaro and Nicolo Barella.
