Inter’s former president Massimo Moratti has been impressed with the Nerazzurri’s performances in preseason, despite criticising Antonio Conte for his Juventus past.

Conte has worked tirelessly on limited resources this summer and managed to avoid defeat in consecutive matches with Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham.

Moratti met a handful of Inter supporters in Modena earlier this evening and admitted they looked much better now than they did under Luciano Spalletti.

Gazzetta di Modena quoted him as saying: “Conte is great, you can see he’s great. He has a terrible DNA but the team is playing differently now.

“The players are doing different things now, they’re not playing horizontally like they were last season. It made you want to shoot yourself.”

Moratti was pleasantly surprised at how much Conte had got out of a threadbare squad, but Inter are set to rectify that problem by signing Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester United have finally agreed a deal with the Nerazzurri in the region of €78 million, according to reports from Sky Sport on Wednesday evening.
