RB Leipzig have made an approach for Ivan Perisic but the Croatian would only return to the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich, according to FcInterNews.it.

Antonio Conte would be happy to keep the midfielder in his squad this season but his future in Milan remains uncertain.

Perisic’s agent Nelio Lucas has failed to secure a move to the Premier League, which would have been the 30-year-old’s preferred destination, with England’s transfer window due to shut in 30 minutes.

Bayern are coached by Perisic’s fellow Croatian Niko Kovac, but the Bavarians’ owner Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has no interest in arranging a deal.

Neither Perisic nor Lucas are in a hurry to find a new club for the 2019-20 campaign, albeit they know Inter would prefer them to move elsewhere.

Nothing serious is on the table at present but there are still four weeks for the 2018 World Cup finalist to sort his future.

Conte wanted to convert Perisic into a wing-back for his 3-5-2 system, but he gave up on that experiment after just one preseason friendly against Lugano.

He has since played him as a second striker while waiting for new forwards, but Perisic has not convinced in that position either.
