Fiorentina are hoping to persuade Inter to arrange a swap deal involving Cristiano Biraghi and Matteo Politano, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Vincenzo Montella wants to place great emphasis on the Viola’s wide players this year, with Pol Lirola and Federico Chiesa due to form an exciting duo on the right-hand side.

Politano scored six goals in his debut campaign for Inter and made his move from Sassuolo permanent for €20 million in June.

“Inter have said Politano is not for sale, but the Nerazzurri haven’t made a secret of their interest for Biraghi,” the paper reported.

“Is there room for negotiations to begin here, perhaps with Fiorentina guaranteeing a lump of extra cash to cover the gap in valuations?

“It’s a deal that seems difficult but fascinating at the same time. The next few days will tell us if there is even the slightest chance these talks could take off.”

Biraghi came through Inter’s youth system as a teenager and would be eligible for a ‘homegrown’ spot in Antonio Conte’s Serie A and Champions League squad lists.

The Italy international made 35 league appearances in Florence last year, helping Montella’s side escape a stunning relegation to Serie B on the final day.
