Inter are prepared to let Ivan Perisic join Bayern Munich on loan with an option to buy, Gazzetta dello Sport reported tonight.

The Bavarians need to replace Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and James Rodriguez, all of whom left this summer, while they have also lost Kingsley Coman to a long-term injury.

Perisic is no longer part of Antonio Conte’s plans this summer and has been placed on the transfer market as a result.

The Croatian scored nine goals for the Nerazzurri last season, playing on the left-hand side of a 4-2-3-1 formation under Luciano Spalletti.

Conte’s arrival has forced Perisic into an awkward position at Inter, with no natural slot for the 30-year-old in the team anymore.

Inter’s new boss wanted to convert him into a wing-back but Conte gave up on that experiment after just one preseason friendly.

Perisic has spent the last three matches playing in an unconventional front two alongside Sebastiano Esposito, but it was never likely to be more than a stopgap.

Conte moved a step closer to having his squad completed on Thursday when his employers announced the arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.
