Romelu Lukaku thanked Inter for putting their faith in him today and said he had come to help the Nerazzurri build their future.

The striker completed a potential €75 million move from Manchester United on Thursday after weeks of drawn out negotiations.

Lukaku then met his new teammates for the first time and gave his first interview at the club’s stylish new offices in Milan.

“I chose Inter because of the club’s project,” he told Inter TV.

“I think Inter are heading in the right direction and I needed a new challenge. Here, the foundations are there to do well.

“Through my commitment and my desire to perform, I want to help this team achieve big things. I won’t get ahead of myself, but I hope we’ll have achieved great results come the end of the season.”

Antonio Conte played a huge role in bringing Lukaku to Inter and he reiterated comments already made about his new boss at the start of the summer.

Lukaku added: “He’s the best coach in the world. He manages to improve his players, while his career speaks for itself.

“I would also like to thank Steven Zhang and Giuseppe Marotta for the faith they’ve shown in me. I’m delighted to be here at Inter.”

Inter then asked Lukaku to give his new fans a message, which was: “Inter is not for everyone. Forza Inter!”
