Mauro Icardi is finally reconsidering his future at Inter after losing his no. 9 shirt to Romelu Lukaku, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The striker views Juventus as the most appealing option but is intrigued by the idea of joining Napoli if the Bianconeri do not make a proper offer soon.

Roma have also expressed an interest in Icardi, but he prefers the Partenopei because they could guarantee Champions League football this season.

“Losing his shirt number has drastically changed the situation and made Icardi realise we really have reached a point of no return,” the paper reported this morning.

“He could stay and play four or five games in the best case scenario, but after Lukaku’s arrival (which will probably be followed by that of Edin Dzeko) and Inter’s decision to put faith in Lautaro Martinez and Matteo Politano there’s no space left for him.”

Icardi’s entourage are convinced their client could return to being a ‘King’ at Napoli, where Carlo Ancelotti would be capable of ensuring he scored tons of goals.

It remains to be seen whether Aurelio De Laurentiis can agree a fee with Beppe Marotta, though, after the Napoli owner balked at Inter’s €75-80 million asking price.

Icardi will not turn down a move to the San Paolo if the clubs do reach a deal, but the forward’s image rights – which Napoli would want to purchase exclusively – will play a key role in any negotiations.

Roma have offered €30 million plus Edin Dzeko to secure Maurito’s signature, but Inter want at least €45-50 million in cash before considering a part-exchange deal.

Icardi is not interested in moving to the capital in any case, but the Giallorossi will try to talk him round with a phone call from their new coach Paulo Fonseca.
