Mauro Icardi is reconsidering an offer from Roma as Inter seek to offload their former captain, according to Tuttosport.

The striker had only shown interest in joining Juventus so far, after being told he was no longer part of the Nerazzurri’s plans.

The Giallorossi view Icardi as the perfect striker for new head coach Paulo Fonseca, even more so than their previous target Gonzalo Higuain.

“More than a definitive ‘yes’, this is the first sign of Icardi being open to a move,” the paper reported this morning.

“Roma are not deluding themselves here, but deep down they’re hopeful this deal really could come to fruition soon.”

Beppe Marotta is eager for Icardi to move to the capital because it would help with Inter’s pursuit of Edin Dzeko.

Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has fixed Tuesday as a deadline for any talks concerning the Bosnian, but he would be happy to concede more time if Icardi were included in the deal as well.

“Excluding incredible surprises, Dzeko will be black-and-blue by the end of next week and Antonio Conte will have the strike partnership he asked Suning to get him upon his appointment,” TS concluded.
