Inter coach Antonio Conte believes that his players have adapted to his mentality of never giving up and never wanting to lose, he told Inter TV after the friendly match against Valencia away, which the Nerazzurri won on penalties.

“This was a difficult match, important, against an excellent team who have had the same coach for a long time, and who for example, last year won the Copa del Rey against Barcelona.”

“The lads responded positively to this test because once more they demonstrated that they will not give up, that they don’t want to walk off the pitch having lost. This is a very positive thing from a mental point of view.”

“I told them that they could have done better but we are working a lot to improve. They are a bit tired, because we are working tactically as well as physically to fill up our tanks. Tonight was another step on the road to growing.”

“It was the first time this summer that Lautaro and Politano played together. Lautaro has only been training with us for a few days, but he has put in the effort and the desire. Matteo was out due to an injury.”

Conte then focused on individual players highlighting Esposito and Longo before praising the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

“Both of them, but this also applied to everyone, have to come in well into the mechanism that I ask of them in attack. I am happy for Esposito, he came on with the right look and also happy for Longo, who has been giving us a great hand.”

“Lukaku also need to work, both physically as well as learning how to adapt to out mechanisms. For sure he is an excellent signing, we are very happy. He has given us his great desire and commitment to make himself ready.”
