Mauro Icardi is now open to joining Roma in a swap deal involving Edin Dzeko, Sport Mediaset reported today.

Inter want to offload their former captain as quickly as possible but it was previously thought Maurito would only accept a move to Juventus.

The striker appears to be changing his mind, however, perhaps because the Bianconeri have not stepped up their interest in recent weeks.

Monday’s development is good news for Antonio Conte, who is now closer to making his second signing in attack after Romelu Lukaku.

Any cash-plus-player deal involving Icardi and Dzeko would see Inter receive a sizeable extra fee, to compensate for the gap in valuations.

Icardi lost his no. 9 shirt to Lukaku last week, with several sources reporting this was the final straw that convinced him to leave.

Dzeko scored 14 goals in all competitions last season as Roma finished sixth in Serie A and reached the Champions League last 16.
