Inter are optimistic about their chances of swapping Mauro Icardi for Edin Dzeko in a part-exchange deal, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri want the Roma striker to partner Romelu Lukaku up front this season as talks enter a potentially decisive week.

Icardi has yet to make a decision on his future, but it remains possible he could move to the capital before Italy’s transfer window shuts on 2 September.

“If Icardi leaves the Pinetina in the final week of the window then Dzeko might arrive in the final week of the window,” the paper reported.

“Inter are no longer in a hurry to sign Dzeko because logic suggests the swap will happen, with Roma obviously paying some extra cash as part of the deal.”

Inter are also keen to sign another midfielder before the market closes, but they do not have too much money to invest anymore.

Marotta is then confident of securing a deal to sign Cristiano Biraghi from Fiorentina, although the Italy international is unlikely to swap clubs with Dalbert in the process, like other reports had suggested.

Dalbert joined Inter from Nice in 2017 and has interest from several clubs in France now.

Marotta hopes to complete a sale for the outgoing full-back and use the money to bring Biraghi back to the club.
