Inter are closing in on a deal to sign Matteo Darmian on a free transfer next summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The versatile defender has one year left on his contract with Manchester United and has already worked successfully under Antonio Conte with the Italian national team.

Darmian could yet join Inter during this transfer window but Cristiano Biraghi is another target they are pursuing for their left wing.

The Nerazzurri wanted to send Dalbert to Fiorentina in a swap deal, but the Viola think the Brazilian is worth less than their full-back.

Biraghi made 35 league appearances in Florence last season but is reported by other sources to be keen on a return to Inter.

The Italy international would be useful to Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio because he is eligible for a homegrown slot in their Champions League squad.

Conte wants another reinforcement on the left-hand side of his 3-5-2 system after discarding Ivan Perisic and forming a negative opinion on Dalbert.

Kwadwo Asamoah has already played under Conte for Juventus but the Ghana international cannot be expected to play every match in such a busy campaign on multiple fronts.
