Inter have revived their interest in Federico Chiesa after Fiorentina denied the forward a move to Juventus this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Chiesa was expected to move during this transfer window after agreeing personal terms with the Bianconeri, but new owner Rocco Commisso had no intention of selling the 21-year-old.

Neither Inter nor Juve have the financial resources to launch a late offensive in August, but it seems the battle will recommence in earnest in 2020.

“On the one hand, Beppe Marotta hopes he can make use of his great relationship with the Viola’s new owners, who have had to deal with Juventus making a determined approach for Chiesa this summer,” the paper reported this morning.

“On the other, he is confident of exploiting the player’s own disappointment, because Chiesa expected Juve to move sooner and with more decision to bring him to Turin.”

Marotta will speak to Chiesa’s father Enrico in the next few days and put forward Inter’s plans for the Italy international, which would see him become a key player under new boss Antonio Conte.

It remains unclear for how much Chiesa would cost, given there is still a full season to play before negotiations would properly begin.

“Chiesa’s valuation is around €70 million for the moment, but his future performances will determine that with greater clarity,” Gazzetta concluded.
