Mauro Icardi wants Inter to welcome him back into their first-team squad before he leaves the club this month, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri’s former captain is extremely disappointed at how he has been treated this summer, missing out on every preseason friendly before losing his no. 9 shirt to Romelu Lukaku.

Icardi is working with his teammates for physical drills but is not allowed to take part in practice matches or unofficial fixtures, such as the one Inter won 8-0 against Virtus Bergamo on Sunday.

The striker’s entourage are considering legal action against the club if nothing changes in the short term, having already sounded out a number of advisers.

Inter have no intention of changing their strategy over Icardi after making a clear decision on his future before the start of preseason.

The Nerazzurri are not at serious risk of losing a legal challenge, in any case, given that Maurito is now open to leaving the club amid interest from Juventus, Roma and Napoli.

Icardi wants to live out the remainder of his time at Inter with dignity, not as someone left out in the cold but simply as a player who is destined to leave.

Joao Mario is being reserved this sort of treatment, despite being certain to leave the club too, and the 26-year-old’s representatives are confused as to why Icardi is being handled differently.
