Monaco have made an approach to Inter for Mauro Icardi, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Nerazzurri are looking to offload their former captain before the transfer window closes on 2 September, having recently signed Romelu Lukaku as his replacement.

Icardi is showing little interest in a move to Ligue 1, preferring instead to wait for other options to materialise.

Napoli, Roma and Juventus are all strongly interested in Serie A, with the same source reporting earlier that the Giallorossi are slight favourites for the moment.

Antonio Conte has excluded Icardi from every preseason friendly Inter have played this summer, leaving him back at home for the club’s tour in Asia.

Maurito received another clear message from the club about his future on Friday, as Inter removed his no. 9 shirt and passed it over to Lukaku.

Time is running out for the 26-year-old to depart but Inter are still hopeful he will accept a move away.

Roma have offered a cash-plus-player deal involving Edin Dzeko, but for now the clubs do not agree on their players’ respective valuations.
